Brompton World Championship 2011

The 6th Brompton World Championship was held on Sunday 21st August, in glorious sunshine; for the fourth year in a row it was held as part of the Breast Cancer Care Bike Blenheim Palace Festival of Cycling.

The event was held over the same circuit as in previous years, comprising 2 laps of a 6.5km course; the 2011 Brompton World Champion, Michael Hutchinson, set the fastest time on the course yet with a time of 21:15. Rachael Elliott succeeded in securing the title of Fastest Female for the second year in a row, with a time of 23:35, improving on her previous time by nearly two minutes. The full results listing is now available as is the team results breakdown at

Despite the hot weather the rules for the event remained the same: helmets were an absolute must, as was a blazer or suit jacket, collared shirt and neck tie. Prizes were also awarded for the best-dressed, those that had managed to add an air of sartorial elegance to the proceedings
