The 6th Brompton World Championship was held on Sunday 21st August, in glorious sunshine; for the fourth year in a row it was held as part of the Breast Cancer Care Bike Blenheim Palace Festival of Cycling.
The event was held over the same circuit as in previous years, comprising 2 laps of a 6.5km course; the 2011 Brompton World Champion, Michael Hutchinson, set the fastest time on the course yet with a time of 21:15. Rachael Elliott succeeded in securing the title of Fastest Female for the second year in a row, with a time of 23:35, improving on her previous time by nearly two minutes. The full results listing is now available as is the team results breakdown at www.brompton.co.uk/bwc/2011
Despite the hot weather the rules for the event remained the same: helmets were an absolute must, as was a blazer or suit jacket, collared shirt and neck tie. Prizes were also awarded for the best-dressed, those that had managed to add an air of sartorial elegance to the proceedings
